Founder

Sister Elaine MacInnes
Founder (2004) & President of Freeing the Human Spirit; founder of a Toronto Zendo of The Sanbo Kyodan of Kamakura Japan; a member of Our Lady's Missionaries, an order of Roman Catholic Nuns; a Zen Roshi accredited by the Sanbo Kyodan in Kamakura Japan; was named an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2001 for her ground-breaking work with inmates in the United Kingdom and the Philippines; author of many books and articles on meditation; the award winning biography of her life and work, 'The Fires that Burn', has been showed on Vision TV and is available on DVD.


Directors

Jim Cheston
Jim received his Masters and Ph. D. in Applied Social Psychology; for 12 years, worked primarily in the forensic branch of the Ontario Correctional System; now in private practice, he continues to work in risk assessment and counselling of parolees.

Harry Lynch
Harry is a Master of Divinity graduate from Regis College; currently working at Providence Healthcare Centre as coordinator of spiritual and religious care for patients; teaches meditation at the Toronto East Detention Centre.

Lynda Myler, Chair
Lynda is a Performance Development Consultant, Learning Specialist, Workshop Leader and Coach for Fortune 500 Companies, Social Service Agencies and Individual Leaders and Teams. She has an M.Ed in Adult Learning and Development and holds an Honours BSW with a focus in Social Psychology. She has been meditating and working with Sister Elaine's Zen Meditation group since 2000. Currently she teaches meditation and yoga at the Toronto Jail.

Teresa Pagnutti
Teresa Pagnutti is a Senior Consultant in the Toronto office of Environics Communications specializing in public relations consulting for corporate and financial services clients. Prior to joining Environics, Teresa worked at RBC Financial Group assuming a number of communications roles within the organization. Other past experience includes United Way of Greater Toronto as public relations manager, with an Ontario government ministry, and as a reporter for a local community newspaper in Northern Ontario. Teresa's volunteer experiences include being a literacy tutor and providing communications and fundraising help to Doctors without Borders and St. Stephen's Community House.

Sue Schroeter
Sue is a marketing and communications professional with an extensive leadership background in public relations, marketing strategy, corporate communications, brand development and project management. A graduate of Carleton University's Journalism program, Sue has 25 years experience in the high technology (IBM and Digital Equipment), human resources (Mercer), advertising (Ogilvy and Mather) and, more recently, the non-profit sectors. Sue also volunteers with Second Harvest and the adult day program at CHATS.
